Chapter 144 Protecting People

Crackle. Crackle. Crackle.

Silhouettes covered in night darkness emerged from beneath the ground with a loud crackle. Among the silhouettes were everyone, ordinary people, farmers, warriors, and knights in already rusted armor. Each of them had a different power and history, but they all had one common goal - they wanted to destroy everything associated with Fate, as they were driven only by hatred.

Like an army, they marched simultaneously towards villages and towns, to places where there was Fate Blessing at least once, and to places where people with Fate Energy inside them passed, so even small villages were in their way.

Players received a massive announcement as well as a quest and quickly headed out to help the inhabitants, especially the newcomers who knew how valuable the rewards of Fate were.

"Damn... This hasn\'t happened before..." The young man muttered, standing at the borders of one of the villages.

"Hah, it\'s been a week since the launch of the Fallen Fate, so I guess it was obvious something interesting was about to happen." His mate smirked, preparing for battle.

"You don\'t think the Player did this...?" The young man scratched the back of his head puzzled.

"Heh, of course not! Not even Zayne Fellen could have provoked something like that! Look at that scale!" His mate exclaimed with an excited expression as he waved his sword, pointing forward.

They were near a small village of only a few hundred people, but there were dozens of silhouettes with eyes as blue as the moonlight.

"Damn... Can we even handle them...?" The young man grew wary.

Clap.

His buddy clapped him on the back with a happy smile, "Hahaha, don\'t worry. I\'ve already informed the others, there\'ll soon be enough of us here to withstand even a few of these waves. I wonder what\'s going on in the big cities?"

...

While Zayne slept, even in the ruins, silhouettes were rising, betrayed by fate. Some of them, with particularly powerful auras, looked at Zayne but did not approach him. They simply nodded, as if in gratitude, and went on their way, following their vengeance.

One of the largest cities was Red Feather City, so this was where the general mass of silhouettes was headed. In just a few minutes, hundreds of blue eyes appeared amidst the darkness of the night, heading for the high walls of the city.

...

Crackle.

The massive doors opened as Alden headed down the passage, followed by Veronika. It was a deep night, but then none of the nobles or knights dared sleep, they all received messages from Oracles, and had to act immediately.

"Fuck! What the hell is going on?! Why did people with Fate Energy suddenly literally rise from the dead and attack us?!" Alden exclaimed furiously, clenching his fists tightly.

He had already given orders to the Knight Commanders in the city and was moving to meet the strongest man in Red Feather City.

On one of the city walls, overlooking the main road as well as the hills stood a man in a long gray mantle and a large hat. His amethyst eyes contained great wisdom and strength gained through years of life.

"Mr. Solomon." Alden said confidently as he stepped forward, "Please help us!"

Solomon nodded slightly and waved his hand, "No need to ask me, I\'ll do it anyway. After all, this town is important to me, and my daughter lives here."

"Mr. Solomon..." Veronika murmured, "Forgive my impertinence, but do you know what happened? Why these people have risen from the dead and have Fate Energy in them?"

Solomon took a deep breath, "We don\'t have much time, so I\'ll answer you directly and harshly." Solomon\'s tone became sharp, "They were all collateral damage of those who overstepped their authority to fight Chaos. In other words, what you see now is the dark side of the Fate. The feelings of these people can be understood, but we cannot allow them to harm the innocent, so they will have to be destroyed."

Alden and Veronika gulped. They knew more about Fate than ordinary people, but they were far from Solomon\'s level of knowledge, to them he was a true sage.

"However, they were raised off the ground by some force... I guess who it could have been, but has another person joined them?" Solomon whispered, Alden and Veronika could hardly make out his words.

Step. Step. Step.

A man in black armor quickly climbed the stairs and exclaimed, "Alden! They\'re almost at the city walls!" Roland waved his hand with a worried expression.

Solomon raised his hand up, "Send knights into battle, anyone who can fight, including Travelers. I don\'t have the strength to destroy them all, but I can protect the city."

Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.

The space beside Solomon trembled as a white magic circle appeared above his hand, and several projectiles flew out. Each projectile was followed by a white plume, like a thread.

The many projectiles formed an impenetrable dome around the city.

"This barrier will prevent them from passing inside, however, the same goes for those who choose to leave the dome. The knights who leave the city now must be prepared to fight to the very end." Solomon said seriously, wiping the blood from the corners of his mouth that appeared after the spell cast.

"Agh... To the very end...? Will the Knights in the vanguard have to wipe out hundreds of enemies? It\'s impossible!" Roland exclaimed, not wanting to lose any more of his men.

Solomon shook his head, "You won\'t have to destroy all the enemies, their time is limited." Solomon looked at the moon, "When the moon is gone, and the sun rises, these poor people will be at peace forever."

"The moon... the sun? Are you sure?" Alden was puzzled, he hardly knew what Solomon was talking about, which was unusual for him.

"Yeah... Sometimes I\'m as wrong as the rest of us, but this is definitely not the case." Solomon said, gazing intently toward the ruins on which the moon shone particularly brightly, "Have patience and courage, and we will survive this crisis without great loss."
